Virginia Russell is President of RussellConsulting, a company that offers training, coaching, and organization development services to a wide variety of organizations including Fortune 500 corporations, financial and law firms, as well as non-profits. Clients worked with include: The New York Stock Exchange, JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, Colgate Palmolive, Weil Gotshal & Manges, Ropes & Gray, LeBoeuf Lamb & MaCrae, Chadbourne & Parke, Shearman & Sterling, American Cancer Society, New York Weil Cornell Medical Center, Hedgeop Compliance, New York City Transit. She also spent three years as an external coach at JPMorgan Chase in their Career Services Center.
As the former Marketing and Training Director for the New York corporate training division of Career Education Corporation, Ms. Russell created and marketed off-the-shelf and customized training programs. She sponsored and hosted client luncheons and acted as a media spokesperson for the division appearing on CNNfn and Good Day New York. She has been featured in print in The New York Times, Crain’s New York Business, The Stamford Advocate and various trade publications.
Before joining Career Education Corporation, Ms Russell was an independent performance management coach, consultant and trainer delivering corporate training programs as well as outplacement seminars for all levels. Her background also includes human resources functions in the financial services, education, international trade, publishing and advertising industries.
Before there was a high level of awareness of the unique challenges that women faced in the workplace, Ms. Russell founded Careers Don’t Just Happen, Inc., a non-profit organization set up to help women explore careers and market themselves. She secured the L’Eggs Corporation as the founding sponsor and published the newsletter, New York Career Woman News.
Ms. Russell personally coaches women at various organizations in Leadership, Managerial, Communications, Interpersonal, Emotional Intelligence, Political Savvy, Teambuilding, Professional Presence, Change Management etc. – skills critical to the success of women today. She developed the "7 Critical Relationships That Make or Break a Woman's Career" program and is working on a book with the same title. She also designed the career development and transition program “Career Don’t Just Happen – A Women’s How to Guide to Her Dream Job ” and has completed a book of the same title.
Ms. Russell holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Development with a Minor in Counseling and Career Development from the State University of New York. Professional study includes programs in Organization Development, Group Dynamics, Teambuilding, Curriculum Design and Train the Trainer. She received Outplacement Training from Right Management Associates and is a certified user of a variety of assessment instruments. Ms. Russell completed her professional certified coaching training at Coaches Certification Institute. She is a member of 100 Women in Hedge Funds, The New York Association for Psychological Type and Organization Development Network of New York. She has completed Board Leadership Training at the Junior League and Interim Executive Director training at the Support Center for Non-profits. She served in the past on the board of Barnard's Business and Professional Women's Association. Presently, she is an adjunct professor in the Professional Development Division of Baruch College and volunteers as a consultant for the Friends of the Children of Cambodia non-profit organization.
